Why choose cloth pads?

"Why should I choose cloth pads? The disposable plastic one is more convenient, I don't need to carry it after use, I don't need to wash it...I just have to throw it away and it's done! Much easier!"

We know girl, you’ve more than likely thought that. We did too before we found out all about disposable pads.

Tampons, pads and panty liners along with their packaging and individual wrapping generate more than 200,000 tonnes of waste per year. And it is estimated that one singular sanitary pad contains up to 90% plastic.

Most of them won't be disposed of properly and end up in landfill or even worse in the oceans, rivers and beaches. Even if they are, it can take around 500 to 800 years to decompose, according to the Menstrual Health Alliance India Organisation.

Picture this scenario. An average woman will have between 400-500 periods during her fertile life.This same woman will use at least 10 thousand disposable pads. 

Well, it gets worse. They are as bad for the planet as for our body. Did you know that disposable pads have chemicals and synthetics that restrict airflow which can potentially promote yeast and bacteria growth in your vaginal area? And we’re not even talking about the itchy sensation of the plastic against our skin!

That’s why women in different parts of the world are becoming increasingly aware of this problem and looking for eco-friendly, zero waste and reusable ways to manage their periods.
